Strategic plan

The Queensland Human Rights Commission's Strategic Plan 2025-2027 sets our direction and priorities for the next 3 years.

      About this plan

Our strategic plan guides how we protect and promote human rights, deliver services efficiently and effectively, and support those whose rights are most at risk.

As an independent statutory body, we’re accountable to Parliament through the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.

Progress under this plan is reported publicly each year in our Annual Report.

      Our vision

A Queensland where human rights are real for everyone.

      Our purpose

To protect and promote freedom, respect, equality and dignity.

      Our values

These values shape the way we work and how we support Queenslanders:

      • Independence: we value our independence and uphold the rule of law.
      • Respect: we treat everyone with dignity and fairness and recognise the fundamental human rights of all people.
      • Inclusion: we work together, learn from one another, and make our services and communications accessible to everyone.
      • Diversity: we celebrate different perspectives, create a workplace that welcomes everyone, and respond to the varied needs of the people we serve.
      • Integrity: we act with honesty and transparency, make decisions that stand up to scrutiny, and take responsibility for our actions and decisions.

The way we deliver services, support our staff, and engage with the community also reflects the Queensland public service values – putting customers first, translating ideas into action, unleashing potential, being courageous and empowering people.
