Our structure
The Queensland Human Rights Commission is led by the Commissioner and supported by specialist Directorates across Queensland who prevent discrimination and protect human rights.
Leadership and accountability
The Commission is led by Queensland Human Rights Commissioner, Debbie Platz. We are independent of government, and are accountable to the Queensland Parliament through the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.
The Commissioner is appointed under section 238 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991. Commission employees are appointed under the Public Service Act 2008.
The Commissioner is the Accountable Officer under the Financial Accountability Act 2009, and responsible for the Commission’s financial management and performance.
The Executive Management Committee helps guide and support the Commissioner. It provides overall leadership, sets direction and ensures our work aligns with our values and strategic goals.
