This course is for prospective contact officers to prepare to be effective contact officers in the workplace. It is a practical session with the opportunity to apply skills necessary for the role.

Course length: 7 hours

Private cost (10–30 people per session): $1,974 per organisation for the standard course, with additional tailoring charges of $282 per hour if required.

Public: $456 per person

• Building a culture of human rights and respect
• Discrimination, sexual harassment, victimisation and vilification
• The impact of discrimination and harassment
• The role of the contact officer
• Trauma-informed, person-centric practices
• Options for responding to harmful behaviours
• Options for dealing with complaints
• Vicarious liability, duty of care and confidentiality

This course has been designed specifically for current contact officers who need to keep their skills and knowledge of the role and relevant legislation up to date.

It is a practical session designed to provide an opportunity for contact officers to problem solve the challenges of the role. Refresher training is recommended every 2-3 years for active contact officers.

Recommended for: Current contact officers.
