The Bandarran Marra'Gu: Gathering Strength Summit was held across two days (19 and 20 May 2025) at the State Library of Queensland in Magan-djin (Brisbane).
The Summit brought together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members from across Queensland to share knowledge, lived experiences and strategies for change.
The objectives of the Summit were to:
- Provide a safe, respectful space for discussing past and current realities
- Identify key priorities, focus and forward directions
- Identify opportunities for working across sectors, mobs and perspectives
- Share practical tools for promoting human rights and self-determination
With the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) as a guiding framework, the theme of the Summit was 'Better futures for our mobs.'
The Summit was presented by the Queensland Human Rights Commission (QHRC), in partnership with Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) and Queensland Family and Child Commission (QFCC).
