About this resource
The text on this poster lists the rights protected by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
The UDHR is a major document in the history of human rights which came into effect on 10 December 1948.
The General Assembly of the United Nations – for the first time – declared fundamental human rights to be universally protected globally through the declaration.
You can read the UDHR in full on the United Nations website. The plain language version was developed by the New Zealand Human Rights Commission.
