Submissions

Between August 2021 and March 2022, people and organisations were invited to share their views, experience, expertise, and ideas for change to Queensland’s anti-discrimination laws.

Responses to the discussion paper

On 30 November 2021, we published a Discussion Paper to assist people and organisations to prepare responses to inform the Review. We received over 125 responses to the Discussion Paper.

Submissions that responded to questions or issues raised by the Discussion Paper are available through the links on this page, if the person or organisation gave their express consent to publish.

We have not published submissions if there are legal constraints on us publishing the submission in full or in part, or for another reason.

By publishing submissions, we express no opinion about the content or accuracy of any submission or other materials to which they refer. Submissions are published as they have been provided except where redactions have been applied.

Some submissions contain content that readers may find confronting or distressing.

Other submissions

The Review also invited responses to our ‘Have Your Say' online survey form as well as written, graphic, audio or video submissions.

We received over 1,100 general responses to the Review from people with experience of discrimination, people with experience of the complaints process (as complainants or as respondents), as well as other people interested in the Review.

We have not published responses other than those made to the Discussion Paper. A summary of the results, including demographic information, will be included in the final report.

The decision not to publish these responses was made for a variety of reasons, including:

  • their relevance to the Review
  • whether they contain material that might be considered offensive
  • if there are other legal constraints on us publishing submissions in full or in part
  • the extent of our resources.

These reasons were published on our webpage from the commencement of the Have Your Say process, and were referred to within the online survey.
