Review

Review of Right to Information decisions

The Right to Information Act 2009 provides two levels of review:

  1. You may request an internal review by applying in writing within 20 business days of the date you were given notice of the decision. The official status or rank of the officer conducting the internal review is required to be at least as high as that of the officer who made the original decision. The agency must finalise this review as soon as practicable. If you are not notified of a decision within 20 business days of the application, there is deemed to be a decision affirming the original decision.
  2. You may apply to the Information Commissioner for an independent external review. An application for an external review must be made within 20 business days from written notice of the decision.
